This picture of Greg was taken in the 90's in the home of Charles and Tonie where Greg had brought his bass over for some family music making as part of a party. "My Own Man," words and music by Greg Nathan, was written in 1976, when Greg was 21 years old. The lyric was edited in 2013 for the purpose of this recording. One thing I can put here is that Mike Denny went into the recording session thinking he was recording my song with one title, but after the master for the album was finalized, My Own Man was changed back to the 1970s title and related lyrics. The 2nd title and entire vocal were replaced without Mike being there.
Mike was part of the trio that performed My Own Man when it was first written. Perhaps the experience of hearing the final version was a welcome one, since the original title was one he knew from long ago.
However, I suspect he didn't see the change in title and lyric from what was done in the studio coming. When Mike recorded My Own Man in the studio, I didn't even know things were going to turn out the way they did.
